Evergreen

I'm still too sad and upset to write about the recent happenings that left so many innocent people in Norway dead. I feel I need a timeout. Music always helps. While this song is no way related to anything that's been going on lately, I feel it's a refuge so many needs. A dry martini and an escape to a timeless era.

I will return to blogging in a few. But right now I need to digest my thoughts and feelings. But I hope you enjoy the song.

He's my brother she's my sister

No, this post isn't about some crazy family drama. It's the name of a band that played at Sam Bonds in Eugene last Wednesday. Jamie and I went there to check out what was happening, but we hadn't heard of the band before. Turns out they were pretty good! The video I took of them doesn't do them justice at all. Their vocals were tight, the lyrics good and the songs made us tap our foot and hum along.

I am absolutely obsessed with the band
FLORENCE AND THE MACHINE! This song, "I am not callinng you a liar" is from their latest album, Lungs. Their music just hits a nerve with its soulful lyrics and haunting melodies. And I love that it is so different... it is unpretensious yet aware. What do you think?

Just another song that I like

Music. I just can't live without out. I first discovered this song back in 2006. It's an emotional song that I guess can translate to most moods.... love, anger, disappointment, longing. It's performed by the former Seattle band Acceptance. Too bad they don't exist as a group anymore. What's your take of the song?

A little piece of Portland in Bergen

My friend and I had coffee at Barista, a cool coffee house/bar/venue in Bergen. It has a retro feel to it, and reminds me a little of the quirky cool hipster hangouts you so often come across in Eugene or Portland. The place is packed with vinyl records, retro arts and band posters. Barista is tucked away in a quiet corner of the city, and if you don't know about it, it may be hard to come across it by chance. To my great surprise there was a show poster for an old Elvis Costello show in the bathroom - where else but at the Roseland Theatre in Portland. Yay! A little piece of Oregon hits right at home (in the restroom.. haha!)

I'm listening to a CD with some of my favorite songs on today. One of them reminds me so much of my dear friend, Ally. She's probably one of the coolest people I've ever met, and we became close friends within just a few days. We met while we were both studying at the University of Oregon. We had so much fun during that time, and I remember I was soooooo sad when she was going to move back to Bethesda, Maryland.

There's a song called "I'll miss you" by Frente that perfectly describes it. I thought I'd share it with you.
