Superfood: The next generation

I'm fascinated by the term "superfood". The thought of eating living and raw food to keep your body in balance sounds fantastic, no? How about a smoothie made of green algae or niblets of sacred chocolate? I gotta admit I prefer the sound of the latter.

However, I recently made some minor changes to my diet. I incorporated hemp seeds and detox tea to my daily cuisine. I'm also trying to eat less bread, pasta and potatoes. If you are worried about the hemp seeds, I can assure you that they are not from the THC carrying marijuana plant. Same family, though. The seeds contain poweful amounts of Omega 3, 6 and 9. I use them in oatmeal with cottage cheese and bluberries. Delicious! That's what I call a super breakfast. Packed with protein, antioxidants and healthy fatty acids.

If you care about your skin, it's important to remember you are what you eat. Yes, I know, you've heard it before. I gotta admit I've had my fair share of burgers and chocolate, but since I still get carded to buy wine when I am 18 years above the legal drinking age, I feel blessed with good skin. I might have been lucky through my 20s, but if I want to further avoid a dry and dull complexion (trust me, I have those days, too) I have to step up my skincare regime beyond moisturizers and honey masks. So, that means, from now on, I am ever so slowly switching out the bad stuff with the good stuff. It won't happen overnight, but I will try my best. You can follow my progress right here on my blog, if you want to, that is.

I've noticed several bloggers, writers and health gurus buzz about this so-called miracle oil that has the daunting name of (drum roll, please) Aman Prana Happy Delight oil. It's expensive, but according to worldwide health spies worth every drop. I am not sure what it tastes like, but I am planning on giving it a try.

What do you think? Are you intrigued by the word of mysterious super foods?

Going flexitarian!

If you've been following my blog, you've probably read in a previous post that I am trying to slowly cut meat out of my diet. Flexitarian is the new way to go, baby! It's simply the grey area between being a carnivore...or a vegetarian.

Personally, I'm not *that* into beef. I mean, it's all about the seasoning and the extras, right? And pork... it kind of grosses me out thinking about all those cute little piggies. And chicken...don't get me start. So this week, I've been enjoying delicious non-sausage patties from Morning Star. They're awesome!! They are tasty and fill me up, and do good for body and planet.

I've been sticking to a veggie diet the past few days, and I've lost 2 pounds. Yay! It's all about being creative.

This was my lunch yesterday. A bowl of noodles, a packet of veggies, and three patties. It may look gross... but the taste was delicious.

Things are looking brighter!

....and this is my lunch today! Can you see the improvements?
